Our story
We are Zach and Ilana, a couple of local food enthusiasts with the goal of raising clean, healthy food that is accessible to our local community. Having both grown up in the suburbs of Atlanta, we feel a strong connection with our Georgia home. We started our journey together as farmers in 2015, on a Permaculture farm in north Georgia, and we have since only grown in our enthusiasm for integrating technological innovation and timeless agricultural practices to provide local access to fresh, healthy food.
Since we broke ground on Levity Farms in 2016, our journey has been exciting, delicious, and so much fun. When we started the farm, at our first site in Milton, we sold produce at 2 farmer’s markets and a small handful (a pinch, if you will) of farm-to-table restaurants. In the following years, we would grow our clientele to include a swath of Georgia’s top chefs, many of whom have been acknowledged over the years by Michelin, James Beard, and myriad local and national publications. This has been an exciting (and delicious) series of relationships, and many of the chefs we work with have become personal friends of ours.
Since 2016, we have farmed just north of Atlanta, gotten married, begun raising a family (read: zoo), relocated to our second location in Madison, hosted workshops and markets, rebuilt a local clientele while still maintaining a healthy relationship with our Atlanta chefs, continued growing the family (read: repopulating Georgia), re-relocated to our most favorite space EVER in Southern Appalachia, continued to work with our longstanding repertoire of Atlanta chefs, multiplied AGAIN (read: at this rate, we’ll need to apply for our own ZIP code), and furthered our passion for regenerative, soil-building practices, which bring tasty and nutrient-dense produce to our friends and local community members.
