Levity Farms CSA

Connecting our local community directly to the farm, turning would-be customers into essential farm members. Support the farm by buying-in at the beginning of the season, and enjoy your share of our weekly harvest.

Joining the Levity Farms CSA

To become a member, sign up for our CSA anytime before the season starts. Purchasing your membership ensures you'll receive a share of each week's harvest, which can be picked up at your chosen location. Don’t worry, we'll send weekly reminder emails to ensure you don't miss out on picking up your share.

Weekly Shares

Just as each week’s harvest will be different, so will each week’s member share. The average share will include 5-7 items, depending on the season. These are just examples of CSA shares for a couple of weeks in the Spring:

  • Early May - Salad mix, baby arugula, radishes, strawberries, dino kale, sugar snap peas, dill

  • Early June - Head lettuce, beets, hakurei turnips, green onions, tomatoes, cilantro, fresh flower bouquet

Members who elect to pick up their shares directly from the farm will have the option to build your own box, otherwise we will curate your weekly share for you.

Pick Ups At the Farm

Our Spring CSA kicks off in mid-April and runs for 12 weeks. By joining, you’ll receive 10 weekly shares, with 2 flexible weeks built in—just in case inclement weather or pest pressure affects our harvest.

When you sign up and choose on-farm pick-up, you’ll be invited to the farm on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to select your weekly produce. This member-customized experience is only available to those who pick up at the farm.

When you sign up and choose The Crown Brasstown pick-up, you’ll be invited to Kula Wellness, located at The Crown, on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to pick up your weekly share. For this pick-up option, we will curate your harvest share ahead of time, so you’ll swing by and pick up your already packed order. However, we will bring a “swap box”, for any items you wish to exchange.

Pricing

The cost for 10 shares over the 12-week season is $350, which averages $35 per share. Each share is enough fresh produce for 1–2 people per week. If you’ve got a larger family or are a serious veggie enthusiast (go you!), consider a double share.

By paying for the season up front, you’re not only reserving your share of fresh, organic produce but also supporting our farm and helping sustain the local food movement here in Southern Appalachia.

FAQs

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, creating a strong, healthy connection between farmers and their local communities. Instead of traditional customers, CSA farms are backed by a community of members who "buy in" at the start of the season. This early support helps cover key upfront costs—like seeds, compost, and equipment maintenance—allowing the farm to thrive.

In return, members secure a weekly share of the farm’s harvest throughout the season. It’s a win for everyone: farmers gain financial stability, members enjoy a steady supply of fresh, local produce, and the community grows closer to the land that nourishes it. CSA also promotes food sovereignty by reducing dependence on grocery stores and bringing families back to the roots of their food.

What makes Levity Farms CSA unique?

As a Levity Farms CSA member, you’ll enjoy the same top-quality produce we’ve proudly supplied to Atlanta’s best chefs for nearly a decade. Our experience growing for farmers markets has taught us exactly what folks want in their weekly haul—vibrant, nutrient-dense, and flavor-packed veggies. Working closely with top chefs has shaped our high standards for quality, which we continue to refine year after year. Beyond our passion for exceptional produce, we’re equally driven by a love for building community around food and family, growing our impact on the local food scene with every season.

What types of crops will be in my weekly shares?

In addition to the staple market-table favorites, we have always enjoyed growing specialty produce, items that aren’t typically found at your local grocery store or market. After almost a decade of growing specialty produce for some of Atlanta’s top chefs, while still maintaining a stable presence at local farmers markets, we have developed a repertoire of high-quality crops that we grow each year. As the seasons change, so do our harvests. A typical Spring will see the following crops, plus more:

lettuce, baby arugula, radishes, hakurei turnips, sugar snap peas, carrots, strawberries, kale, beets, chard, bok choi, kohlrabi, fennel, flower bouquets, and fresh herbs.

Is your farm Organic?

We always tell folks we’re “little-o organic”, as opposed to “big-O Organic”. We are not USDA Certified Organic, because we have never opted for certification. The process is costly and very intense to procure, and frankly, our practices are what we refer to as “beyond Organic”. We use very few soil amendments, and the few we do use are OMRI-listed (aka compliant with USDA Organic standards). Our focus is on building healthy soil through natural means, inspired by our Permaculture background and informed by our studies of regenerative farming methods. In addition to locally-sourced compost, we may use any of the following throughout the year:

  1. Mikrobs - Mikrobs is an organic microbial superpack that contains zero chemicals. A single 8 oz. Mikrobs pouch contains over 100 billion microbes, each contributing to boost the growth of plants and their roots in healthy, effective ways, while simultaneously supporting the sustainability of the soil in which the plants are grown in.

  2. Fish fertilizer - We will occasionally spray our fields with Neptune’s Harvest Fish Hydrolysate to give newly-sprouted trays or freshly-planted crops in the field a little extra boost in fertility, though our newly adopted biodynamic practices have minimized any need for soluble fertilizers.

  3. Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) - a bacterium that is found naturally in soils throughout the world. We occasionally apply Bt to our tomatoes, for example, in the unfortunate event that pressure from hornworms has become almost unbearable. Bt produces a spore that is toxic to the pest, thus mitigating the negative effects of infestation on this highly-important Summer MVP.

Pest infestation generally occurs when the soil is imbalanced, so our first line of defense against pests is maintaining healthy soil through composting, minimal tillage, cover cropping, crop rotation, microbial applications, and biodynamic preparations.

Do you guarantee bountiful harvests each week?

A key part of the CSA model is sharing both the risks and rewards of farming. Since all our produce is grown in soil and exposed to nature’s unpredictability—like extreme weather, pests, and fluctuating rainfall—crop loss is always a possibility. We take every step to protect our crops, using practices like cover cropping, crop rotation, minimal tillage, and composting to build healthy, resilient soil. Our small scale (less than 2 acres) allows us to monitor conditions closely and address potential issues early.

While occasional setbacks may happen, most weeks will bring an abundance of beautiful, nutrient-dense produce—sometimes more than we can fit into your shares! If a significant crop failure occurs, we’ll supplement with organic produce from trusted local farms to ensure you still receive the high-quality veggies you expect. By joining our CSA, you’ll share in the ups and downs of farm life while enjoying the best of what each season has to offer.

Do I have to pay for the whole share up front?

By paying for your share of the season’s harvests up front, you’re providing us farmers with the foundation to buy everything we’ll need for the season, ensuring we’ll be able to continue growing food to feed the community. We understand that paying for the whole season at once may be prohibitive or feel like a commitment you’re not ready to make. If that is the case, we invite you to shop from our market table each Saturday at the Union County Farmers Market.

Can I see the fields where the produce is grown?

Yes! Yes! A thousand times, yes!! We are very proud of our growing practices. When you become a member and elect to pick up your weekly share from the farm on Fridays, you’re invited to stroll the fields and see the very produce you’ll be enjoying each week. We do live onsite with our young children, so we ask that you please respect pick up hours and procedures. Please do not bring an excessive number of guests with you to the farm, as the farm will already be hosting lots of members at a time for pick ups.
